Place the centrifuge tube in an ice bath and add ammonia (sp. gr. 88) slowly with stirring until the solution is alkaline to litmus (Note 2). Add 5 ml of 100 vol. HfcOa and stir for 5 min. Centrifuge for 5 min at 1500 rpm. Decant the supernatant through a Whatman 40 filter paper. Wash the precipitate with 2 % NH4C1 solution, centrifuge, and decant the supernatant through the filter paper. Pour 20 ml of hot 1:1 v/v HC1 to the centrifuge tube. Swirl to dissolve the precipitate and transfer to a 400 ml beaker.
